"I am seeking reielection to continue my service to the citizens of Washington County," said Zwiener, who added that the justice courts are steadily changing with an ever-increasing caseload and new rules for civil court as set forth by the Texas Supreme Court.
"The rapid changes to the justice courts reinforce the need to keep an experienced judge on the bench," he said.
Zwiener has lived in the Independence community for almost 38 years and is married to Elizabeth Zwiener and has a stepdaughter attending Brenham High School.
He is a graduate of Texas Tech University, a graduate of the Law Enforcement Academy at Texas A&M University and holds numerous advanced proficiency certificates from Texas State University and the Mass Fatality Institute at Kingwood College.
Zwiener's volunteer service includes with the Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Department, where he is currently deputy fire chief.
He is a past president of the Washington County Firefighter's Association.
Zwiener has also served as a county representative on the Brazos Valley Council of Government's Homeland Security Committee.
He and his family are members of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Brenham.
Keeping a campaign promise from his first term, Zwiener assumed the role of primary magistrate at the Washington County jail and still manages his daily caseload.
Zwiener said he feels it is important for the citizens of Washington County to know about the criminal activity in the county, which is why he submits a report to The Banner-Press every day detailing charges filed at the jail.
"I thank the citizens of precinct one for the honor of serving as justice of the peace for precinct One of Washington County for the past 12 years," he said.
